For more than 35 years, Dr. Roberto Uriel has cared for South Florida’s children. Today, some of the children he once treated return as parents, entrusting him with their own children’s care.
As founder of South Florida Pediatrics in Doral, he combines his academic training at Rush with an approach that values parents’ observations and encourages questions.
Dr. Uriel is also a father of three and grandfather of four. His own growing family brings a personal perspective to a career devoted to caring for children and supporting parents.
Pediatric training at one of America’s leading medical centers
After earning his Doctor of Medicine degree at Universidad Central del Este in the Dominican Republic, Dr. Uriel completed his pediatrics internship and residency at Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center in Chicago, now Rush University Medical Center.
Rush’s national reputation continues today: the institution was named to the 2026–2027 U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals Honor Roll, which recognizes just 20 hospitals nationwide.

Parents know their children’s routines, personalities and everyday changes. Dr. Uriel makes that perspective part of the conversation, listening to concerns and explaining his recommendations so families can understand the plan and participate in their child’s care.
From newborn visits through the teenage years, his practice includes well-child care, vaccinations, sick visits, and school and sports physicals.
Childhood allergies and asthma
Dr. Uriel has a particular interest in caring for children with allergies and asthma. South Florida Pediatrics also offers onsite allergy testing at its Doral office. Families can ask about evaluation and whether testing may be appropriate for their child.
